Previous and next: Day 5 – Sequoia National Park / Day 7 - Death Valley
This was a day off from hiking to give Laura and the designated driver a chance to go off on their own. It also allowed Karen and I to rest our old weary legs and for me to catch up on the blog.
Three Rivers is in Tulare County, California, and is located in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada at the edge of the San Joaquin Valley,. The town is near the entrance to Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. The town's name comes from its location near the junction of the North, Middle, and South Forks of the Kaweah River. I'm not sure about the middle section, but I do believe that North Kaweah is always in the news these days, and not always in a good way!
Karen and I spent the day lazing in the sunshine; I was writing the blog and Karen read a few books (as she does).
There is not much to report otherwise. The only bit of excitement at the hotel was that the guys came round to empty the septic tank. Well, they said that they were, but I think they were just going through the motions.

Laura and the designated driver went in search of bears, but didn't find any.
On their return, Karen and Laura ended the day with a swim in the pool which was located just outside our hotel room doors.

We finished up with some snacky food (and the leftovers from yesterdays pizza) and a couple of beers, including an appropriately named local beer called Gen Sherman IPA!

We then all had an early night as we were setting off tomorrow to go to Death Valley!
